According to the national performance of provinces five top provinces have dropped and one has retained its position. The other three provinces managed to improve and this resulted in the overall national improvement of the results.

The most important thing is that our province has retained its position irrespective of dropping experienced by them. The department has dropped 3.06% due to uncontrollable circumstances like civil protests were learners ended up losing a valuable contact time for teaching and learning.

This information clearly is misinformed and shows their lack of knowledge on issues of education. The EFF spurious information lacks credibility and is intended to mislead the community.

MEC Sello Lehari is a competitive leader, ever since his appointment in the department. He has appointed capable people to posts which existed for over 5 years without being occupied.

MEC Lehari when he announced the matric results, he mentioned the results of learners from Grade 1 to Grade 12. This shows that Education department has a massive interest to the learners from across the province.

The department has planned a series of intervention meetings with different role players including principals, teachers, District Directors and many more to investigate the drop results. This close session or retreat for the department will be held to further investigate the performance of the department as a whole. A turnaround strategy will be communicated as way forward.
